1. The agents of leprosy Leprosy is the oldest known infectious disease. The name of leprosy comes from the Greek and means scaly, rough. The Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease that is caused by bacteria. The exact pathogen called mycobacterium is a leprosy and the related tuberkelbacillus, acid-resistant rods. He was discovered by the Norwegian professor A. Hansen in 1873.
